What blog copywriting actually does

A blog isn’t just somewhere to post the occasional thought, and it’s not somewhere you can just dump your latest holiday experience.

Well, I mean you could, but it’s not going to get your any new business.

Having a regularly updated blog has many benefits, including:

• Boosts your search engine rankings
• Helps establish your brand as an authority in your industry

And these are only a few examples. A good blog should also include content and information that actually supports your marketing.

For example, if you’re a number plate business, and you’re main is to sell number plates, your blog might include articles like ‘how to install a new number plate’, or ‘all you need to know about number plate compliance in the UK’.

Blog content like this is helpful for both visitors and search engines – as both essentially want to learn more about who you are and what you do.

Funnily enough, I don’t have a blog, but that’s because I’m too busy writing other business’.

Do I need a blog for my website?

The short answer is usually, yes.

Having a blog is always a good idea, for the reasons mentioned above.

However, if you already have a blog but it’s not performing the way you’d like, you might need support if:

• your blog hasn’t been updated in months
• posts exist but no one reads them
• your articles aren’t ranking in Google
• you’ve got ideas but no time to write them

The cruel fact is that blogging takes time, and most businesses don’t have that.

And it’s not just the writing, it’s the researching, the content strategising, the scheduling, sharing, updating and monitoring.

Sure you could use AI to help, but that only gets you so far, and you’ll start to realise that your content may not be ranking as well as you’d like… and it’ll definitely sound stale and ‘bleh’ from the first post.

Each to their own, but by not having a blog, you could be missing out on a significant amount of value, traffic and potential leads.
